residents parking vouchers problems

Trying to get online vouchers, but Ealing Council computer says no!Despite having managed to buy them inline on three occassions, the councils says it is not possible to order vouchers online unless there is only one name on your council bil.  They claim only 1% of people have had problems using their online ordering system. I do not believe this. Anybody else having had problems with the online ordering system?

South Acton v Acton park

So Acton park was recently awarded the prestigious Green flag as one of the cleanest and best maintained parks in the country....now go down south of Acton different world isn't it!Take a walk down Oldham Terrace into the Church Path (the ancient route) onto the old iron bridge, hasn't been cleaned for three weeks to date. South Acton Recreation where the new houses are built are a dumping ground for those living there,well actually the bushes are which separate them and the park. Avenue rd park is still littered with rubbish still has not been cleaned properly for over a year now...so what is not in the public eye obviously is not worthy a clean is it. Would be nice to name and shame them or could stop paying them the two grand a year council tax..hummm. Ealing council and councillors get your act together and do something Positive today.

Does no-one collect conkers any more?

I walked through Acton Park this afternoon with my mum and we saw such beautiful conkers on the ground, waiting to be picked up and played with.But we saw no children.I took a couple for the feel of their glossy coats and the gorgeous glow of the colour.I never played conkers much as a child but I can remember collecting the most beautiful ones - they were treasured even by non-players.Don't they attract anyone now?

you probably think this thread is about you, as the old Carly Simon song didn't go. I did a rough count of hair, beauty, nail, therapy outlets along Churchfield Road alone and it came to eight although I may have missed some. Hats off to the local entrepreneurs as their shops make a cheerful change from pawn and betting premises but what does it say about us Actonians? Are we in such dire need of manipedis and crimpers? Are we at risk of being carpet bombed by aromatherapists?

Football

I have some 17 year old students staying with me till May, they play football regularly in Norway and play in a team there. They, and some of their friends are looking firstly For a grass/astroturf pitch with nets to play at here to keep up their training. as well as a team that is looking for players, that they could join. Their college has fitness facilities but not football and being students cost is a factor. Twyford and Reynolds are reasonable in price but concrete. Gunnersbury Park has pitches but goals with no nets. Gurnell and Trailfinders are possibles but are a bit more expensive. Goals is also an option but on the expensive side too. Old Actonians have teams they could possibly join but do not hire out their pitches. Have i missed anywhere obvious? Are there pitches in a park somewhere that have nets? Does anyone know of pitches that can be hired inexpensively in Acton/Ealing or the surrounding area, or any teams looking for players? Many thanks in advance.

Old Beano comics, Match magazines and construction toys

I have some old Beano comics and Match magazines to give away. World Peace Day

Today is international Peace Day. A charity initiative backed by the UN to have a global day of ceasefire. Missing black and white cat from Leythe Road

Our two year old cat called Chilli has been missing from Leythe Road since Monday 17 September. He does not wear a collar, is not neutered and is black and white.
